So thinks the Government these days.
I’ve got two really good examples of Government overriding the will of the people and we’ll talk about them in this post. But just because I mention only two doesn’t at all mean these are the only two that exists. In fact, this is happening all over our country.
Because of this, the American Liberty Alliance will soon be launching a project call “Smarter Than a Taxpayer”. Stay tuned for the update on that.
People of Hawaii: We don’t want tax hikes and our Governor (Linda Lingle) vetoed them on our behalf.
Hawaii State Legislature: We’ll just work our way around the will of the people and the veto using the legal system.
That’s right, Hawaii government thugs jammed several tax hikes down the throats of Hawaii citizens towards the end of the session. The tax hikes included a hike in the state income tax (what do these thugs not understand about “we’re in a bad economy right now?”), which is certainly not what any state should be doing at the moment.
Acting in response to the will and needs of the people of Hawaii, Governor Linda Lingle vetoed all the tax hikes except one on the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products. The veto ceremony was, for the first time, done in a public fashion and was attended by almost a 1,000 taxpayers.
But the state legislature apparently didn’t like the fact that it’s employer, the taxpayers of Hawaii, didn’t feel they wanted to shell out more money for an expanding government that spends money like it grows on trees. In fact, the state thugs found a way to override the veto!
The National Taxpayers Union published a letter to the state legislature in an attempt to say what the taxpayers had already said through the ballot box, but it fell on deaf ears.
This is an outrage and further proves that We the People have let our government get out of control.
Check out the Hawaii Grassroot Institute for more research and information.
We the People of Effingham Illinois: No, we do not want a tax hike to fund a brand new sports complex. That is how we voted and want it to stay that way.
Government thugs of Effingham Illinois: We don’t care that you voted the tax hike down. We’re going to push it through anyway.
The story in the Effingham Daily news says it all.
In a non-binding referendum, city voters rejected the sports center in February 2008 with 1,801 voting against moving forward with the sports center and 1,372 voting in favor of going ahead with it.
Now, how in the world can that paragraph be followed with this one?
The council preceded ahead with plans to build the sports center, which came close to fruition last year when a bid letting was held in June 2008. Soaring construction costs skyrocketed the price tag of the sports center to millions of dollars over budget.
In other words… the people spoke and the government thugs ignored what they were saying. As a business owner, would you allow an employee to openly ignore your demands? Of course not! You would fire the employee.
With that in mind, one has to wonder why these thugs still have jobs. They obviously believe they’re smarter than their employers… the taxpayers.
This has to stop.

Why does this surprise anyone? For years, people have been going about their lives and not researching the candidates that were running. We have been lazy and let others do our work for us. Now we have to live with the consequences until the next election. People wake up and ferret out the candidates that don’t live up to your ideals. Vote our values and beliefs - not what we are told to believe!!!!
It took 100 years to get to this point, we can undo this with perserverance.
We need to stand up to the destruction of our freedoms.
Praying is a great thing, but we need to stand up publicly.
Please, let’s get out there, Sacramento where are yoy?
This Obama guy is out to destroy America and all it stands for . Lets pray to god in 2010 all his coharts in congress lose all there seats so we can stop his eveil agenda
These are examples of government not only thinking it is smarter than the people, but also acting as thought the people cannot or will not do anything about it.
