A kind reader sends along the following cautionary note in response to the idea of sending actual tea bags to the White House or Congress:
actual tea bags will CLOG UP the letter sorting equipment……….BIG TIME………..and might invite postal inspectors to inquire…………
also, more than 1/4″ thick letters, require a SURCHARGE, extra stamp charge, and will PROBABLY BE RETURNED without it the extra surcharge stamps……….
The reader suggests as an alternative:
i would like to do this, but with TEA PAPERS (flattened)….
In other words, try sending the paper wrapper that some tea bags come wrapped in.

FYI alert:
oh do the pink marker first, then use the crayon. my first attempt I was not pressing as hard with the crayon- and a thicker layer of wax makes writing with the marker more difficult.
oh just a pun that came to me.
“the ideas are just brewing.”
ha haha haa
me again. I saw some comments about pink slips so I am coloring the teabag wrapper with pink crayon and writing “Pink Slip” with fushia marker on it- and then I will continue on with the same postcard idea as above.
I have a laminator. I was thinking of making some postcards- four from one sheet- and stick a card with the address on one side in between with the wrapper of a tea bag. I have some “great value” ones in my cupboard already. I thought about adding the phrase “time to put value back in Washington” or “too bad there is no value in Washington.” or “time for a change, and put Value back in Washington.”
Any better ideas?
Instead why not just empty the tea bags into Boxes and Ship it that way? Imagine if we all sent a 5 pound box of Tea to the White House…
