Christie Carden is organizing April 15 Tea Party events in Alabama.
Here’s our e-interview with Christie.
What is motivating you to organize a Tea Party?
Our freedoms are at stake, our economy is at stake, our quality of life is at stake, our very safety (from global threats) is at stake. Right now we are deciding what our country’s foundation will be: limited government and Capitalism or big government and Socialism.
How are you reaching out to people to let them know about your event?
Asking facebook RSVP’ers to invite people, asking local groups to spread the word, and we will be sending our press releases to all of our local media.
When did you decide to get involved?
After I attended the Nashville Nationwide Chicago Tea Party, I heard about the second Tea Party coming up and wanted to see one in my own city.
Is anything about this hard?
The hardest part for me so far has been getting the permit.
What would you say to someone who is considering becoming an organizer?
It’s not as hard as you think. Follow the “How to Guide” suggestions on the nationwide website, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. You’re not alone, and people will join you to help out.

How can you throw out other Patriots handing out Restore the Rebublic literature ???? What is wrong with you ??? Are you the same kind of “patriot” as Glenn Beck ??? You organize an event for patriots to protest big government and you throw out fellow patriots TOTALY violating their 1st Amendment rights ??? Are you kidding me ?? You’ll probably delete this and not post it, but I had to write and let you know that it’s all over the internet and I will repost it as far and wide as I can. What you did was wrong and unconstitutional and you should NOT be organizing anything since you are so unaware of what the constitution says !!
Recently it was reported that you ejected patriots from your tea party for passing out Republic Magazine to a very willing crowd.
For the life of me, I can not come up with any good reason why you would eject Constitutional people from a Constitutional event for exercising a Constitutional right. Can you offer any good explanation for that?
Recently, I blogged about the wonderful effect that tea parties are having by bringing together all of the different groups who are concerned about restoring the country to Constitution. Now at tea parties we will see and hear from tax protesters, Tenth Amendment groups, Second Amendment groups, Campaign for Liberty, etc. I invite you to read that blog here:

What we ALL want is individual liberty as envisioned by the founders. The Constitution is the guideline for that liberty. Restore the Republic, who put out Republic Magazine, and also do the internet news broadcast The Reality Report, is a Constitutional group that promotes patriotic values all based upon the Constitution and our founding principles.
Why would you throw them out? Perhaps following the principle of self-determination, upon which this country was founded, would suit us well in these situations. Who are we to act as the nanny for The People; to decide for them what they should or should not read? Aren’t Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Choice central to our purpose here? Allow them to decide for themselves. They are Americans.
We all have the same objectives at heart. I strongly feel the you have acted erroneously in your recent ejection of fellow patriots from your event.
Wanda, I am with you! This is a non-partisan movement, and we need to stand together and be unified in our Conservative principles. The people of America need to be made aware that the power is still in their hands, and we need to VOTE for the correct solutions for our country - the ones that have proven to work. Limited government and Capitalism. Cutting taxes to end a recession. We need to put and keep the right people into our government.

Bush and others who abandoned our conservative principles are in large part responsible for the road we’re pummeting down at break-neck speed. At this point, however, I’m less worried about who supported Bush or “who started it” than I am about letting our voices be heard before the country goes so far down the socialist path that we can’t turn back. Now is the time for those of us who dissent to stand up and fight for the principles on which this country was founded. If we don’t act now, it may be too late. I heard about the Tea Parties on February 27, and I’m excited about going to one near my home. This is the Second American Revolution, and the more people who show up to protest our out-of-control government, the better our chances of affecting a change.
Oops…forgot to say great post! Looking forward to your next one.
